BOGO Free Veterans Day Meal from T.G.I. Friday’s!

Thank YOU, T.G.I. Friday's, for honoring our military men and women!

As a thank you to all who serve our country, participating T.G.I. Friday’s locations is giving anyone with an old or current military ID one free entrée with the purchase of another from November 11-14.

This is the best deal I’ve seen thus far for Veteran’s Day meals for our vets and current military…Granted, all of the deals are awesome, and I am thankful that restaurants and other businesses are thinking of our service members and their families. Now, if only the Outback Steakhouse would see that, and offer more than a Bloomin’ Onion + Beverage, lol. Oh well, it’s a generous gesture :)

Is there a coupon or anything else you need? My fiancé is coming home from a combat tour very, very soon and I would LOVE to take him to this.

    • Michelle says:

Nope, no coupon required :) Simply show them your hubbies mil. id and you’re all good :)

      • Lisa says:

Is there any other form of ID/proof of being in the military that they will accept? Such as a DD214, LES, or Veteran’s organization card(VFW, American Legion)?

        • Michelle says:

I would call the location that you are going to be visiting just to make sure. I know that other participating restaurants will accept an LES or the 214, but I would call just in case. I had a PR firm for TGI’s write me about this…let me email her back and get some more details, too! Thanks for your question :)

        • Michelle says:

I haven’t heard back from Maddy yet, but I would assume that the following are ok: U.S Uniform Services Retired Identification Card; Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES); DD form 214; Veterans Organization Card (i.e., American Legion and VFW); Photograph in Uniform; and Wearing Uniform, if you don’t have an active ID :)

Also, Golden Corral is giving service members a free ‘thank-you’ dinner on Mon, Nov.15, 2010 from 5pm-9pm. It says that ALL Golden Corrals nationwide are participating so you should be able to find one near you. :-)

  12. Jay Jones says:

What if you don’t have your old ID, they took mine. I do have my DD214 that shows military entrance and separation?

    • Michelle says:

I’m still waiting to hear back from Maddy at the PR firm….I will keep you posted!!

    • Michelle says:

Jay, Ok so I haven’t heard back from Maddy yet. But I would say that it’s safe to assume that you can show them the 214, or any other type of ID that proves your service. Tons of other restaurants are accepting the following: U.S Uniform Services Retired Identification Card; Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES); DD form 214; Veterans Organization Card (i.e., American Legion and VFW); Photograph in Uniform; and Wearing Uniform.

Thank you for your service :)

  13. Rose H. says:

Does this include spouses? Do we get to eat free as well? Do they know what we go through? At least we do get a “thank you” from the military after retirement.

    • Michelle says:

Sorry, I wish it did include spouses. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Military Families Eat Free on Veteran’s Day! I would SOOOOOOO have that if I had my own restaurant.

    • Michelle says:

You know, I was thinking. It wouldn’t hurt to ask the managment, right? You never know! It would totally be up to their discretion. Managers can do anything.

  14. Jan says:

Chili’s is offering your choice of one of six entrees for veteran’s day, Red Robin has a free appetizer with coupon, Subway is offering a 6″ Sub. Check the company websites for details.

On behalf of all veterans and their families… We thank you (TGIF) for your gratitude. Not to forget our service men and women who are currently serving!

  18. Debra says:

Just came from a Starbucks in Columbia, SC. I asked if they were having any discounts for veterans (I’m a disabled veteran) and the woman taking my order laughed. The guy making my drink said that corporate doesn’t offer any discounts because they don’t want to be seen as supporting the war. Interesting…won’t be going there anymore if that is their outlook on veterans. I don’t need their overpriced coffee.

    • Michelle says:

      Debra,

First of all, THANK YOU for what you have done in serving our country. Second, I cannot believe that those comments were made by the employees, even if they were telling the truth. It wouldn’t surprise me, though, being that Starbucks is HQ’d out of Seattle and it’s a very hippy-ish community. When we were stationed at Ft. Lewis, all we ever heard about were anti-war protests.

I am so sorry you had that experience today – you know, you can make your own Starbucks-like drinks for WAY cheaper, anyway!? Check out this link for a DIY Peppermint Mocha recipe….mmmm, sooo good – my DH loves them!

      Ingredients:
      2 tablespoons mocha powder
      2 tablespoons peppermint syrup
      A shot of espresso
      12 ounces of heated milk
      Whipped cream
      Sugar sprinkles

      Procedure:
Melt the mocha powder in a small amount of hot water – just enough to make a thick syrup. Pour this mixture into your cup – at least 12 ounces – and then add the espresso and peppermint syrup. Then pour the heated milk – steamed milk would be great, too. Top this off with whipped cream and red sugar sprinkles.

Free lunch or dinner offers (from special menu) from Chili’s, Applebee’s and Hooter’s on Veterans’ Day.

  20. Debra says:

    Michelle,
I want to thank all the spouses of those serving their country. They are truly the unsung heros who shoulder a heavy load. Bless you all. I was also very shocked to hear that statement made by a Starbucks employee…especially when many of their patrons are stationed here at Ft. Jackson. The gentleman behind me in line walked out and I’m hoping he writes a letter to the corporate office as I have. Your peppermint mocha recipe sounds yummy. This old vet is a vegan so I will make it with almond or coconut milk. Thanks for your kind thoughts. Military families are the best!!

  21. JFKelley says:

I am a Viet Nam Vet andI don’t drink coffee or support Bush’s war…But you have to support the vets who serve without question. How would it sound if I hate coffee so I hate the employees at Starbucks? Stay Thirsty My Friends. Drink bourbon!!

  22. Karen says:

The Friday’s in Chesterfield wants a coupon that was sent out or no free meal – problem is – what coupon!

    • Michelle says:

I wasn’t aware that there was supposed to be a coupon :( I apologize!! Maddy (from T.G.I. Friday’s PR firm) has not gotten back to me to answer any questions so I’m not sure who else to contact? We do not have any T.G.I. Friday’s here in Fort Bragg :( Wish we did, I love them!!! Please let me know if you find out anything else, and again I am so sorry that they wanted a coupon!!! There was never any mention on that.

  23. William says:

Apparently the coupon that some Friday’s want was emailed to their “Get More Stripes” members. So you either have to call and talk to the manager and maybe get the offer, or be a “Get More Stripes” member to get any and all offers. I called my local Friday’s and spoke with the manager in order to get this offer, not the very best way to give out offers.
